One of my favourite places to get coffee (of the Monmouth variety too) and cake in St Albans, Hertfordshire is The Bakehouse.
Although they had lovely branding and a very loyal customer base, they approached me to do a logo refresh to tie in with the official launch of their downstairs restaurant and new menu. Upstairs will still be the coffee shop and downstairs will be the restaurant selling some wonderful food served right from breakfast (including breakfast cocktails!).
The brief was to create an identity that could work for both areas and a supporting graphic palette that helped convey the fresh nature of the food. The logo would need to work on signage, menus, banners, the website & social media, stickers and more, so different formats needed to be considered.
Normally I try and create a graphic toolkit that uses no more than 2 fonts, however in this case 4 was needed to help the menu hierarchy and add character and warmth. I also created illustrations of ingredients that could be used supporting collateral, main menu, breakfast menu and website.
